ok ok...the drill sargeant is a day late...but better late than never, right?

for shame! none of you have posted! :(

well, here goes mine, maybe it'll spark some conversation and get people back on board...

Matthew 9...
if memory serves me correctly, this post will probably tie into my last one pretty well...in this chapter we are shown Jesus' truest and most important lesson: when he is asked why he sits with sinners, and replies "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

as Christians we should make it a point to remind ourselves to love the sinner and hate the sin. i feel that too often we forget that our truest passion as christians should be understanding, acceptance and forgiveness. we do no good by our faith to criticize or condemn, as many so often do during these dark time of political war.

Jesus also makes an important reminder to his followers at the end of this chapter, "the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."

there are so many people in the world who want little more than love and support from someone who cares. whether they be of the same faith or not...i realize that part of our calling as christians is to share our love of jesus and spread his teaching and words...but i think we need to remind ourselves that THAT is our goal, not just to try to convert...too often this becomes the substitute goal because it's more tangible...but conversion, i believe, is not the true goal of our calling; it's the byproduct of spreading jesus' love and acceptance.
